AF Noise in Video of D300s

For a moment, I thought a SWM lens will focus on her subjects very quickly and quietly. And I was wrong…even with the Nikkor 24-70mm. The last videos I captured in Thailand was razor sharp but when it comes to on-the-fly focusing, the stepper motor still kicks in and got recorded when the lens attempt to focus.

Though its softer in sound, you can still hear it in each of those videos. Solution? Don’t AF during video recording with the AF-ON button but do it manually. OR record sound on a separate channel with a stereo recorder.

Last best resort – Pre-focus once and start your video recording.

First Unofficial Rumors – Nikon D700 Replacement Date

While in Bangkok, my Japanese client immediately knew of my enthusiasm in photography when he saw what I shoot them with one night, and took me aside to talk about Nikon for the remaining hours of that dinner.

In short, the Nikon D700 replacement will only be launched next June according to him! Being Japanese working in Thailand with other Nikon Thailand Japanese expats, his confidence level of that news came rather sound and believable to me. Imagine the wait that I have to bear with now!

O well, yes, the D3100 (already leaked) and the D90 replacement is already old news to all and will come before Photokina.
