Microsoft Windows 8 Pro and Photographers

Right. I jumped and am now in the air…with Microsoft Windows 8.

The upgrade was swift and concise with little out of the unexpected. But the Metro interface that greets me, together with the corner-sensitive menu structure begs itself to be recognized as a Mac OS X wannabe.

Favorites like the Control Panel and Applications are all now lost in the translation, with them located only via a manual search operation. Machine shut down or restart too is now entrenched within the Settings, making the OS look sleek but somewhat indifferent.

The first good news is that photography applications like Nikon View NX 2, Adobe still works, in addition to stuff like Opanda, Photomatix Pro. That’s a big green tick and that’s all that matters really for now.
