Pro Talk – How Strong is your Image?

As it turns out, that’s the one key question I often post in an advanced workshop, to folks who are more than just competent with their gears and techniques.

But ironically, its the mental mindset rather, that will get you to the next level. No amount of pro gears will default you there. I am referring to the ability to visualise, to conceptualise a compelling scene in either a pre-meditated or on-the-fly scenario.

It must be themed, embodied and intertwined with either a culture, subject, story, emotion or object, to say the least. It must be a shot taken in subjection to the governance of colour and effects of lighting, coupled with the right optical reach and isolation.

No bull.

Only then after, would you sauced your work in that heavy midst of critical filtering. And it will only be thereafter, before you are in that better position to then begin creating your first “real” work that may warrants that second look. Well, no one’s saying its gonna be easy in the brutal world of professional photography. But I dare say its not impossible too.

Anything less, and you should sensibly keep your senses and enjoy doing something else.
