Hi there, I was jsut wondering what video editing software to use for Nikon video formats? I have real trouble using Premiere Pro with the footage from my D7000 as it lags a lot and cannot be played back in realtime whilst editing. It’s a shame because it’s brilliant software!

Hi Tom,

If you are in the same Mac camp as I, Apple’s Final Cut Pro X with Motion 5 will be my preferred vehicle for videos. But having said that, you can get away with a lighter, friendlier tool like iMovie for all your Nikon video clips.

Adobe Premiere Pro rocks on Windows too! (Well, at least from the smooth work I saw off my videographer peers). As for lags, I implore you to confirm the fit-for-function of your PC’s graphic card (and RAM Size) before properly working on your HD clips.

Most of my video works are performed on 8GB machines…

Im working on becoming a proffesional photographer (specificaly nature photography) and am in need of a camera. I came across the Nikon L105 and was wondering if it was worth buying? also wanted to know if it had the “bulb shutter” option? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning!

The Nikon L105 is an excellent all rounder camera that gives you both a big bang for the range and a relatively small footprint. Keep your shots at ISO 200 (with a tripod when necessary) and you are on your way to a very good start. But i believe this model is only available used today and has since, been replaced by her successor L120.

Despite the fact that this camera you mentioned does not have the ‘bulb shutter” facility, you should still get away with nailing most slow-shutter effect shots with the use of a slow shutter speed.

Good hunting…
