The Nikon Df Design Philosophy

Packed with a D4 sensor, dipped in a D7000 feature set, hammered into a more compact frame, disable video recording,  and we got ourselves a Nikon Df in our hands.

Well, if you are yielding for a stop more in useable low-light performance (from say the Nikon D800), I think we can get there with the use of a brighter, more cost-effective glass. Rumors puts the used EN-EL14 battery squarely as a gear for advanced enthusiast. The weight will not appeal as a range finder. The retro aesthetics demands the use of AIS/AI glasses (beside the 50mm kit lens of the Nikon Df for now). The design construct hints a single SD memory bank in the battery compartment. The extensive provision of dials and the disabling of video reinforce its appeal to analog purists.

That said, the compactness of the overall design will win many, including analog owners of rival makes. The pixel clarity offered by the D4 sensor will subdue the fence sitters. The silver/black variant will reiterate her analog heritage, completing her claim as the worthy Nikon FM successor.
